Back to School for the Grandkids

Get ready, Boys!
Goodbye to Summer
The crickets and the asters, the clear cool skies and the freckled noses, the glossy sun-bleached hair, and the new shoes all ignite my pre-school excitement at this time of year. Labor Day is behind us and kids and teachers are heading off to school. This is  when I celebrate the New Year....it makes way more sense than the middle of winter! This is indeed the time of new beginnings!

I stopped by the grandkids' house this morning to document the occasion and give Jude and Gus a hug.
Jude's first day of third grade is today;
Almost Ready!
Ouch!

He's Ready!
Lunches Ready
Teeth Brushed!
Gus' first day of kindergarten is tomorrow!

Once the car left the driveway, I took a little walk through the backyard of the new house. Here are the left behinds...summer's flotsam and jetsam, so to speak! It was a short summer because of the move, but lovely despite some hassles....as you can see!

Leftover Apple

Boys' Toys

Roses Now Spent

Bikes Waiting

Marshmallows Consumed
"Asters sweet purple
A nightingale's call
Today it is summer
Tomorrow will be fall."
poet's name escapes me

"Daddy" missed the photo shoot, but his presence is felt  in all that you see here!

P.S.  Two days later, August headed off to kindergarten!
He is ready!

  2. Lovely capturing of this moment in time. Yessiree, first days of school... new beginnings all right. For some, new shoes, backpacks, lunch bags, clothes, pencils, erasers, markers... The anticipation of those firsts is palpable- even for the onlookers!

Were you there for Jude's homecoming to find out how his day was?

    Happy first to Gus tomorrow!
