Teaching Photography to the Grandkids

Fieldtrip to Costco…it’s All in How You Look at Things

I do not recommend Costco as a fieldtrip destination for the grandchildren, particularly not the ten and younger set! What could possibly interest them there! But honestly, what I know is these kids will find something fun and amazing at the most unusual of places...like Costco!
First we picked up the photo prints I had ordered on line. Next I picked up my standard tuna, almonds, fresh fish, and laundry soap. And finally, against my better judgment, I did treat the boys to lunch, and here is where it got interesting and fun!
After combining several pop flavors to make a new one, they sat down and started eating....and looking all around. "What's that, Granny? Why do they have....? Can we...?" and so on. The boys love to borrow my Smartphone and set the camera on “solarize”, so we decided this was a good place for taking pictures. This time I encouraged them to get artistic with their shots. To think about angles and textures, and taking only parts of things for the design quality of them. Here are the ones they would like to get printed for their new bedrooms.

  1. Wow...how cool. I mean, who does stuff like that?
What will be next...25 cent mustaches?
Love looking at all this....esp imagining the discussion.
Keep it up...let the sunshine in!
