| Experimenting with speed and position |
It’s summer: time to relax, time to have fun with family and
friends, and time to explore. The boys and I have been berry picking twice, we’ve
had picnics on the banks of The Columbia River, we’ve played on the surcharge
of House Holder Refuge, and Auggie and I attended Hollywood Theater’s Music
Video Camp. Lest we forget, I’ll post a few photos of July’s escapades.

And then off to HouseHolder Refuge to see what's new. The surcharge that weights down the places where the co-housing buildings will be make a great place for summer sliding. It's not quite as fun as sliding on snow, but the challenge is irresistible.

Auggie Goes to Hollywood Theater's Music/Video Camp
Auggie learned all about video making in his weeklong summer camp at The Hollywood Theater in my neighborhood. He learned to make animation on a white board, with calamity, and with cut paper and just about anything he could find. He also learned how to use a Cannon SLR camera to make videos and stop action films. Here he is taking the shots as his partner draws one clip at a time of a car going off a cliff into the water. About 300 clips made a ten second video.
|
This dirt is dry and hard, but Jude and Auggie are determined to figure out how they can slide down it. "This may not end well, Granny!" he warns as he shoves off. And there have been some not so pretty falls, but they keep going back for more! There's something about a steep hill or a tree or a dumpster, or a slide that calls to these boys, "Come on up! The going down will be fun!"
 |
First they'd watch a short video, and then they'd produce one
in the same style. |
 |
The making of this is a 10 second animated clip where Auggie
brought in one letter at a time and then removed them one at a time...
about 300 camera shots made a ten second video. |
