When I purchased my new iPhone 5, it was with the understanding that it had the "best point and shoot camera on the market". I had been debating whether or not to purchase a fancy SLR, but decided it actually had more capabilities than I needed or wanted. The iPhone would be perfect! Well, I've had it for close to a year and have been totally underwhelmed by pictures and options....until today. I keep forgetting about APPS! They're so mysterious and illusive and intangible for my learning style, but I knew there had to be something I was missing, so today I took a four hour class in iPhone photography. "Underwhelmed" has quickly morphed into "overwhelmed".... and beyond! For the sake of my own review and for the sake of my over sixty-year-old friends, I will highlight a few things I learned today.
We began with gear and moved through four popular apps. Here are my notes and some photos.
(http://photojojo.com/store/ has all the equipment you'll ever need)
1. If you're going to be spending much time on photography, you need a "juice pack". Get a medium sized one. It has four complete charges in it, so you will never have to worry about running out of charge. IF you get one with two slots, you can plug your iPhone and iPad in at the same time.
2. Lenses: You can get a fisheye lens, a telephoto lens, a wide angle and macro lens or if you want all in one you an get a lens dial that fits onto the phone and has all the options available just by turning the dial.
3. Apps for photography...that's the secret I didn't know about!
Camera+ good camera with lots of options for taking great photos

I hope this gives you an idea of a tiny fraction of the app possibilities for the iPhone.
I encourage you to take the plunge; I guarantee it will be fun!

Glad to see you're having so much fun!
ReplyDeleteDizzying. I am not sure I can handle the mirror images. One life is enough to handle, but two?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the other Apps, tho. It is so odd to no longer carry a camera but rely on my phone and even take a video when I want to. I want to pursue your App suggestions, thanks. Love the boys.
